The Role of Ear Mold

  1. Fixed function: It can ensure that the hearing aid will not be displaced and it will be more comfortable to wear.
  1. To prevent howling sound: Howling sound is due to the ill-fitting between the ear mold and the external auditory canal.
  1. Improve the sound effect: The ear mold can reduce the noise and amplify the hearing aid user’s desired frequency to help understand the message. Adding a hole in the ear mould can balance the internal and external pressure of the ear canal.

Ear Molds are Made According to the Shape of the Individual's Ear Canal

  • Ear impression (approximately 15 – 20 minutes)
  • Explain the operation procedures and what cooperation is required
  • A professional will check the condition of the ear canal
  • Fill the ear canal with the right size cotton
  • Mix the impression material and carefully inject it into the ear canal
  • Patiently wait for impression material to solidify
  • Remove the ear mold
  • Check the ears to make sure that no impression material remainings are left

The Making Process of Hard Mould and Soft Mould

Ear Mould Trimming

1) draw earline connecting all the deepest spots in the groove
2) cut off excess material
3) cut base parallel to the earline
4) smooth out any sharp edges

Ear Mold Waxing Process

1) fill holes and cracks with wax use heated waxknife
2) Place the impression on the spoon and dip in wax
3) cut off excessive wax if necessary
4) place waxed impression on baseplate

Review Ear Mould Process

1) this is a temperature controlled gel machine.
2) place gelform ring and fill with gel.
3) fill up if use of ALC machine.
4) removes impression from gel form.

1) pour the ready material into the gel mould
2) place the gel form into the Liquid crystal(LC) unit.
3) take out the gel form
4) ready to proceed to the drilling

1) grinding half of the canal
2) drill sound canal
3) finish with sand paper. Polish earmould.

2)check if the fitting is correct
3)see the cut angle is good and locked in the control mould

1) put the material into the gel form
2) place it on gel holders
3) press the lighting button
4)remove the shell from the gel mould

Shell Grinding

1) take off the excess of material and make the shell flat.
2) find out how deep you can grind
3) leave tragus side higher than concha.
4) use gel mould to check if the shell is grinded

1) glue face plate to the shell
2) place the microphones
3) make sure the electronics space and vent is correct
4) apply thin layer of glue

Hearing Aid Polishing

1+2) use buffing mops to polish the mould
3) use sand paper to sand the custom mould
4) polish the mould with lacquer.

Debugging Program Through Computer

1) attach programming shoe and cord.
2) place the instrument in the sound chamber and compare with service data sheet.
