Hearing tests/evaluations, performed by audiologists, reveals the sensitivity of your hearing, and can identify the degree as well as nature of your hearing loss.
Evaluation may include one or more of the following tests:
- Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA)
- Impedance Audiometry (IA)
- Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE)
- Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR)
- Speech Audiometry
After completion of the hearing tests, your audiologist will review the results and discuss your condition with you in detail. Your audiologist will also provide various solutions to your hearing loss.
There are many ways to help people with hearing loss. Only a few problems can be improved by medication or surgery. Ninety percent of people with hearing loss can benefit from hearing aids. In addition to the use of the hearing aids, the special listening devices, called the assistive listening devices, can further improve your quality of life.
